I started teaching saxophone very early. Still a student I was hired as an assistance teacher for the "Franz Schubert Konservatorium" in 1988, followed by an assignment at the "Volkshochschule Penzing". At the same time I started to give private lessons and I realized very quickly that this form of teaching meets my ideas of teaching more precisely. I have been developing my own teaching technique over the years and I wrote the book “school for saxophone” which I am still trying to improve by adding more specific exercises. Most important for a beginner is to get to know the instrument. Therefore a solid base work is necessary. A relaxed posture, correct breathing, relaxed vocal chords (larynx), as well as a correct tongue and lip position are essential for good playing. As soon as this basic knowledge is sufficiently consolidated, the student is soon able to focus on individual wishes and interests in musical genres. This basis enables the student to transform his/her musical ideas. My longtime experience has proved that this methodology leads to the best results and improves the future development of children, adolescents and adults. Advanced students from all over Europe like to refer to my longtime experience as musician and teacher and participate in summer courses each year. If you are about to decide to learn this wonderful instrument, you have to be prepared to accept that: 1) practicing regularly is very time-consuming 2) unpleasant exercises are part of a musicians life If you do not own an instrument yet, contact me before purchasing an instrument I will be very happy to advise and accompany you. I would like to invite you to meet me before you take a decision. I will be happy to answer all of your questions or explain my methodology more precisely.
